Printer not working with PC

I *think* it's a lexmark X2650 printer, I've got Windows XP. Everything was working fine until a couple of months ago when the PC decided that crashing halfway through a massive update was a good idea. The flipping thing wouldn't even turn on then, my techie friend sorted the PC out but the printer hasn't worked since. He's at a loss! There's loads of memory so I'm sure that's not the problem.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

So it's rather more complex than we were first led to believe. Could you tell us how much memory you have installed (RAM)?No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hmmmm! Sorry for not posting all details, I'm not very techie minded and didn't know which bits you would need. I don't know off the top of my head about RAM, sorry, I'll find out when I go home tonight. I'm sure there was about 30gb although I may have pulled that number out of thin air. I'll check. Thanks very much to everyone though.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

you need to look at the computer section (it may take a few seconds to appear) at the bit where it says x.xx gb (or xxx mb). in my case, i have 4 gb ram installed so it comes up 3.00gb (as i am using 32bit xp)0 -

I think you are confusing hard disk space with memory (RAM) installed. Check the RAM as advised in the other post and let us know.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Righty ho, I brought up the screen for the RAM and this was written:
Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz
2.99GHz, 2.00GB of RAM
I looked all through the manual and there was no mention of how to print a test page without going through windows so I'm not sure how to do it?
I got the model wrong, it's a Lexmark X3480 All in One.
Anymore info you need just let me know, and thanks again for trying to help me.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0 -
Sounds like a conflict. I'd start by going into Device Manager and DELETING the wireless mouse and printer.
Make sure the mouse is plugged in and restart the PC, should find the mouse and instal the drivers.
Shut down the PC. Plug in the printer and restart. Should find the drivers and instal on a different IRQ to the mouse.0 -
Thanks johnmc, I'll give it a go when I get back tonight.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0
