Hi, advice please. A brief outline...
Lloyds Advance, £10,000 c/limit reduced to £5000.....recently paid off. No use to me whatsoever.
New HSBC, £2500 c/limit 'small' stooze at 0% for 9mths, (practising novice)
New Egg money, £800 c/limit for preloading spending, SBT, & anniv. offer.
Rang Lloyds to cancel the Advance card yesterday and he went thru all the waffle about deals etc. I said the Advance was useless in my current situation. He then offered me the Amex as an 'upgrade' with 7.9% LOB transfer (with 2% transfer fee) and 0% 6mth purchases. Offered to transfer my £5000 credit limit to the Amex. He said I could only apply for the Amex while my advance was still open, to keep that c/limit, but I could close it later. I agreed eventually to get him off the phone and he said he'd have to send me the agreement form anyway via post.
Now, I dont see this as a good deal.
I can spend on it but only get reward points, not cash.
I cant have a 0% bal transfer.
The most he'll offer me for my 30yrs banking history with them is 7.9% LOB
If I close my card I cant open another for 6mths, and new customers get the best deals.
My HSBC 0% doesnt end till October so I dont need a balance transfer yet.
My Egg anniversary will be next January.
Surely I'd be better off ditching Lloyds completely and applying for a new card from somewhere else?
