Re tile bathroom - quote

Hi,

I've been quoted £1100 plus VAT for the following job to re-tile my bathroom (not replacing suite, just re-tiling).

Its approx 16 square metres of area.

1. Remove exising tiles and take away
2. Provisional sum included for making good walls if needed
3. Remove existing elec shower unit to allow tiling and then put back in position
4. remove existing upvc window sides and cill and prepare surface for tiling (small window)
5. remove existing shower screena and bath panel and take away
6. Build frame and tile for new bath side panel, with access panel
7. remove radiator to allow tiling and refit on completion
8. Remove wc and wash basin for tiling and refit on completion
9. Tile all walls floor to ceiling including bath panel.

In addition to the £1100 cost, the cost of tiles plus adhesive, grout and beads is £370 plus VAT (I chose tiles and some are mosaic, but that's my choice!)

Any advice would be appreciated but I'm after a pristine, quality finish and am very fussy. I'm assuming I can expect that for this price but could do with knowing some informed opinions.

It sounds pricey to me but there do seem to be lots of faffy elements involved.

What do you reckon?
Thanks for reading.

That sounds like a good price to me.

As a side issue, I'd check if the removal/re-fit of the shower is something that must be done by a qualified electrician - and that your tiler is covered if it is.

Hi, it's a local but large family building firm who also build houses from scratch, so I would expect the electrical issues will be covered, but I will check. thanks.

You can never be too cautious when it comes to water and electricity being in the same vacinity.

Has anyone else a considered view on the 'value' of this quote?
    Thanks

I like the way it's worded, the detail and description of what is being undertaken suggests to me the guy knows what he's doing.

I would also make sure the fitter is aware that there are mosaics involved as these (depending on design and material) can be very laborious.

It is not expensive, there's a weeks work there to produce a high standard fit.
