Marriott Hotel Warsaw

Hi,

We're off to Warsaw next weekend (2 couples no kids) and I'm thinking of booking the Marriott hotel who have a room inc breakfast for 89 euro per night. Has anyone stayed there or the Westin and have a view on them? Also it says the bus from the airport stops right outside the hotel, is it a good option to use?

Many thanks

The Marriott in Warsaw is the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed in!

The buffet breakfast has to be seen to be believed. They were just finishing bulding a leisure complex plus casino beneath the hotel when I was there in Summer 2004, so it should all be finished now. There is also a great Sports Bar beneath the hotel with large screen T.V's and cheap beer. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to watch the British Open golf live as I'd had a couple of bets.

All in all, the height of 5 star luxury - and so cheap! We booked through
https://www.travelpoland.com and it worked out at about £40 PER ROOM to include breakfast for 2.

Just be careful of the dodgy characters that wander about ouside the hotel.
You will notice many black-clad private security guards employed by the local shops. All a little intimidating, but so long as you don't stray away from the main tourist areas you should be ok.
  • Hi to the OP, we too are going to Warsaw next weekend - Centralwings evening flt from LGW. Was planning to stop at the Radisson SAS. Cheaper price was direct on their website radissonsas.com just over 50 pounds/night inc breakfast. Could you let me know if you fund a good value 5 star hotel too, as I am after a bit of cheap luxury! Cheers :-)
  • Hi Guys,
Many thanks for the info, Richie I looked at the Travelpoland site and although the Marriott is slightly more expensive (170 euro 2 nights) than their own web site (168 euro) the SAS Radisson works out 136 euro inc breakfast and tax whilst the SAS website shows 158 euro inc breakfast excl tax and have a price guarantee which not only matches the price but then reduces by another 25%! However I also found this line in their T's & C's Pre-paid rates that involve a voucher (including electronic vouchers) for a hotel stay. so I guess it rules them out.

Does anyone have a view on the SAS compaired to the Marriott as given what Richie has said i'm going to be staying at one of them?

By the way don't know how Londonlad got on with centralwings but I picked up the flights from Sky Europe ex Stanstead dep Fri lunchtime back Sun lunchtime for £29 inc tax return so if anyone is going over keep an eye on their site for specials.

Just a little tip if you haven't been to Warsaw before, make sure you go outside to the Taxi rank for a taxi and don't go with anyone waiting in the arrivals are who offers you a taxi. I have been to Warsaw a couple of times, the first time I got ripped off for the journey to the Marriott, I was later told that their are some very dodgy 'mafia' people around. Incidentally the Marriott did used to run a shuttle service to and from the airport, it may be an idea to check with them
  • Cheers, someone told me about catching the bus but I think I'm going off that idea. Good news about the shuttle another reason to make it the Marriott. With all these dodgy people I'm glad I'm taking the wife to protect me!!

Just a tip regarding Taxis....always establish the fare before you get in!

Not all taxis have meters, and I'm sure the ones that do have different settings according to how gullible the tourists look! You can haggle the fare down as well. We found the taxis parked in the Marriott rank to be roughly double the cost of the ones parked 50 yards away, although they are definitely more roadworthy!

I would agree with Richie 147 but you may find that the taxi drivers don't speak English so it's a point at the Hotel name job. On the point of the taxis from the Marriott when I was there about 2 years ago they were mainly Mercedes E class and far better than the usual mish mash of other vehicles being used as taxis but in general taxis in Warsaw are not that expensive

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Was just there last week for business

Go definitely for taxi rank just outside the airport - 2 zloti per Km (look out for this on their window).
Airport -> Warsaw (I was not very far from the Marriott) was 36 zloti

Drivers don't speak but get you there ok - Just write the address down

At the hotel, don't get caught like I on my last day and do ask for one of those 2zloti/km taxi otherwise they push you to their over-priced ones

If you want to order one, pick up their number; they always have English speaker to order
    MFW on your mark

By spooky coincidence I am just about to book the Warsaw Marriot for a business trip at the end of the month.

    Thanks for the taxi tips.
