I have £3,000 I want to put into some type of savings. How about an ISA? If so what type of ISA. I may want to get at the money if an emergency arises, but I also want it to earn for me.

i would get a cash isa, barclays tax haven , natwest and halifax are the current top payers, do this before the 5th april so you do not use up next years allowance. If you do n ot bank with any of these , then open up one with your existing bank and transfer into the 3 % fixed halifax isa later on (4 withdrawels allowed a year). You may find that there won't be enough time to open one if you don;t bank with them, but it can't hurt to call them and ask them. Hope this helps.Mortgage Start jun 2007 £88500 Outstanding Balance £51000

You need an instant access cash isa: http://www.moneyfacts.co.uk/money/savings/2/cash-isas.aspx0

You will only get about 100 pound for a year in an ISA. Don't forget if you leave it in you will get that compounded over time.
Premium Bonds have a crap interest with no promise of a win, but hey, you never know. And they are instant access.
Good luck0 -
But they've got a lower chance of winning big than spending half the interest of a savings account on Lottery tickets and the overall expected return is higher in a savings account even if you do decide to spend half of the interest that way.You will only get about 100 pound for a year in an ISA. Don't forget if you leave it in you will get that compounded over time.
