Laptop going multi-region??

Is there any way to make the DVD on my laptop multi-region?

I just got a Dell Insipiron 1300 (on the special deal) and it says I can change the region code 4 times, and then it will be locked to that region. It seems the only way of changing the region is by putting a DVD of said region into the player...

Can anyone help please???

Can you identify the model number of the DVD drive itself?
