Items left in flat from previous tenants

Hope this is in the right place...
I am having major plumbing problems with my flat so the letting agents have temporarily moved me upstairs to a vacant flat. In this flat there are some things that the previous tenant(s) have left - just things like washing powder, a clothes horse stuffed under the settee, kitchen roll, etc.
Do you think I could take them as they were just left there or am I just a common thief?

If it wasn't in the inventory, I would tend to say finders keepers, I've been told of that before by an estate agent! Not sure how legal this is, but it seems ok to me, the amount of rubbish I have found in basements I've rented in is amazing, although it has all been random and useless to be honest, except once when I found a nice solid wood clothes box!
Wasn't in inventory and is now in my new apartment! And I got all my deposit back.0 -
do you know how long the flat has been empty for? personally, i would take them as they are items which i doubt the previous tenants would want now they have left, or even miss.
i say go for ityou might as well, if you don't then the next tenants will, and anyway the previous tenants fault that they left/forgot them
