HOLIDAY TO NEW YORK- really need your help

Hi

I am trying to plan a family holiday to New York for some time in June, and would really appreciate your help...

I have had a look at lastminute.com and their prices for flight and hotel to New York from London airports seems to be really high for a stay of 10 or 14 days...

What tips can you guys give me, im a total newbie to this...and never been to the US before..

Should flights and holidays be booked seperately...?

Thanks and sorry in advance I may have laods of questions

thanksss

Luke

We just got back from NY, hotels there are very expensive.

Personally I prefer to book my flights and hotels seperately, but thats just me.

Are you aware of tripadvisor.co.uk ? If I were you, I would go there, type in New York City and do some serious homework before booking anything you may to regret later.

Plus there are plenty of experts there, both local and non local.

Finally, take a look at bigapplegreeter.org , its a not for profit organisation that can hook you up with a New York resident who gives their time free of charge and will give you a guided tour of a part of the city for absolutley FREE !! :T

Have a look at travelzoo for deals on hotels and check airline websites for specials.

Luke, replied to your PM, a bit slow sorry !

Also I forgot to remind you ( and anyone else ) that you MUST apply for ESTA. No ESTA = no New York or USA for that matter. Its free... dont go to one of those rip off sites that want you to pay a 'small' fee.

    Sorry for long link.

Hi We used a site called Quikbook for our hotel. You can book in advance and lock in a price but you don't have to pay anything until you leave the hotel. I held 6 hotels for my dates, as different offers kept coming up, then when I had decided which hotel I wanted (about 10 days prior to going) I cancelled the rest. No charge for cancelleing.
