PayPal foreign currency payment

I have a received a USD invoice and I want my debit card to be charged in USD, not in GBP.

According to PayPal's help centre:
How do I send funds in another currency?

To send a payment in a different currency, follow these steps:

[...]

When you use your credit card as the payment method, we will give you the choice as to who performs the currency conversion:
  • If PayPal performs your currency conversion, we will disclose the conversion rate to you at the time of the transaction
  • If you choose the credit card association currency conversion, your card issuer will determine the foreign exchange rate to apply to the transaction. You will not be informed of the foreign exchange rate or any additional foreign exchange fees applied until you are billed by your card issuer

I have got to the Review Payment screen and so far I have not been presented with those two options.

I just need to be sure that PayPal won't convert to GBP before I press the Pay button.

Can anyone advise whether I will indeed get the choice as described above?

It will say £x.xx will be charged to your account at the rate of x.xx click here for details. If you click it you can choose what to get charged in.

    No. I just says:
    Payment Method

    Credit/Debit Card: $75.00 USD from Visa/Delta/Electron XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
This transaction will appear on your statement as "XYZ".

Most likely PayPal will do the conversion, its how they make their money.

I used to make EUR payments with a EUR credit card without PayPal making a conversion. They gave you an option immediately prior to payment.

But the dialogs were different then.

That would be different from their help documentation.

Is there anyway PayPal can be contacted with support questions? I don't mean the silly chat thing which just seems to be a computer generated search of the help section which is made to look like a chat with a human.

last year we used paypal to pay for a villa in America, you got the option to either have pay pal convert the amount to £ or pay in the original currency, it worked out better for us to pay in hte $ and convert with a credit card
