And Another Very Slow Laptop

I have been following this site for a while and, hopefully, carrying out all the advise given to other posters. I have deleted McAfee and installed Avira and installed SUPERAntiSyware.

I would be grateful if you very intelligent Techies would please advise as to my next move.

Apart from the laptop being very slow to 'get going' my AOL always wants to try to intstall at least 4 times on start up.

  • Hi there, You firstly could try cleaning all the temporary files from the computer using a nice free program called CCleaner (do a google search for it wont let me post a link)

run it and it will remove all the rubbish you dont need.

Now to AOL starting up. if you click and hold the windows key on the keybaord and click "R" or click start and click run or on vista type run into the start search when the run box opens type msconfig that will open a box with a number of tabs click the startup tab. That shows you everything that is starting when the computer is turned on from there you can untick what you dont want to start, look for anything AOL and anything else you dont want to start up. But if your not sure what somthing is leave it as you may disable somthing you need :)

Use the MCAFEE REMOVAL TOOL as some will probably still be running (by deleting you ment UNINSTALLING yes?)
