How about a petition site to stop people using forums like this to hunt out bargains, then ordering as many as they can (and thus reducing the chances for the rest of us) so they can sell them at a profit on Ebay
Maybe it's late and my brain isn't working properley but to me the principle is exactly the same. I've lost count of the number of times I've missed out on a grabbit and the thread has been full of "just ordered 5" or just ordered 10"
And before I get jumped on.. it's an observation not a suggestion ;)
  • I've just been on ebay, and seen loads of studio outlet bargains up for sale on there (link as mentioned on grabbit forum), I know its from there as whoever is selling it has even nicked the pictures from studio outlet!

I am peeved because I wanted to buy my son some of the quiksilver stuff but it was sold out, however there are lots of the studio outlet quiksilver items on ebay - can I start up a petition against it?

Just looked at the site ......set up by some guy who tried to buy concert tickets for Take That for his girlfriend and couldn't get them....................poor boy!

So...what is the difference between a " ticket tout" and an official approved re-seller of tickets??? I dunno...........some of the official outlets sell for 4, 5 or more times face value.

Please don't regale me with tales of how ticket touts may not have tickets etc..the only way I've bought tickets on eBay has been through well established sellers with excellent feedback...and most eBayers are aware of the pitfalls of dealing with poor feedback sellers.

Sometimes prices are ludicrous ( James Blunt tickets being an example ) but i also managed to pick up two front and centre row tickets for My Chemical Romance at less than face value and Peter Kay at Manchester MEN for half price. I also SOLD tickets for U2 for a ridiculous sum......they were absolutely prime seats and I had 3 sets of bidders chasing them... before anyone bleats about profiteering and touting they were only for sale since the couple we were going with split up and both refused to go!!!!

Like others have said...... it's a free commerce market and everything has a value , be it high or low.......no-one forces people to buy!

my aunt put her tickets for u2 up last year for £20 each (4 tickets, couldn't make it) and ended up getting £450 for the lot. now that is what i call more money than sense.

  • As a ture lover of the the V festival I tried to get tickets as soon as they came out. The tickets went on sale 3rd March at 9.00am-I was trying to get hold of some tickets from 8.59am that day using both my mobile phone and the internet! From 9.01am on that same day V tickets were already up for auction on Ebay from people who had obviously only bought them to make some money. I had 3 solid hours of engaged tones on my phone and internet sites crashing before the companies could take my enquiry, only to be told they had sold out of the tickets, so now i have no option but to buy them on Ebay.
It's something that I look forward to every year and this year I am forced into the position that I have to give these greedy people my money because I really want to go and they just want to make a fast buck! I think Ebay is great for selling unwanted old things that you don't want anymore, but I think it's really unfair that people are allowed to sell tickets when they have obviously just bought them to rip people off.
(The companies that sell the tickets do have a limit on the number of tickets they sell, but only per purchase. Therefore people can ring up as many times as they like and order more tickets.)
Isn't touting illegal on the streets? If it is, why is it legal to sell tickets so blatantly on Ebay?

I think its up to the buyer if he wants to spend over the odds for tickets. My daughter wanted westlife tickets the other year but the gig was sold out, i bought tickets from ebay, they were slightly more expensive but the seats were great and i had no hassles. i dont think you need a petition to stop ticket sellers. What are they actually doing that is wrong.

I've got nothing against ticket selling on ebay for all the above reasons.

i also have nothing against it myself.

what i do find strange is not only how people like the one below can operate, but more importantly, why the ticket agency allowed him/her to purchase so many tickets in the first place.....
