Hi There,
I was wondering if you guys could possibly help me. My mum is facing the threat of redundancy and is looking to start her own small business doing virtual assistancy work, and consulatancy work. Fantastic - she's been looking at all the other aspects of setting up, and is fine....however we're all stumped with what to call her business.
(I have my own business....'item by Laurajayne' type name...so I'm not the most orginial of persons! - my only original idea was 'SFN Solutions'. The SFN 'Stands For Nothing'
Can any of you business gurus think of a name, or make some suggestions? it would be great if it could feature the word helps/help/helping. Sorry - I don't want much lol. We;d be oh so appriciative
(her name is Julie).

Hi
JVA Solutions has a good ring to it ;-)
I hope you dont mind, but as A6Windows suggestion of thebusinesshelpers.co.uk was still available I went for it, as its ideal for me.
I waited till tonight to see if you were going to register it, but was still available so hope that I not stepped on anyones shoes.
Good luck with the new venture

I agree that you can end up buying domains that sound good to you, but other people would never search for.
But I do think that for the sake of £5 year it is worth buying a few domains that fit your business, and while people might not google your initials, if people refer to your company by its initials they may just type them direct into the address bar of their browser or on and email so I always try and buy them for clients. EG a long name like British Broadcasting Corporation is lot to type into a browser so people just put BBC.
Its also very worth while buying the common misspellings of your domain names, again this is not just for people going to your site, but much more often for email, where people can be typing fast or (like me) just cant spell for toffee :-)
Finally (blimey didnt mean to write so much when I started) if going for your own name, don't register just your name, eg joesmith.com but register name and occupation eg register joesmiththeplumber.com and also JosephSmith.com so your posh aunt can find you as well, and Joplumbercom.com and josmithcom.com for those people who cant spell and forget to put the "." between the name and the com or co.uk.
Hope this helps

Go to your main library and go through all the adverts in that section of yellow pages,Nationally, you will get lots of ideas,as to what stands out,and what looks same-ish. Spent two hours doing this yesterday,i also took notes on which artwork looked good, etc.Time not wasted.0
