Hi,

I am at the final stages of buying a house so I am now looking to buy furniture for the house.

I need a leather suite, dining table and chairs , 1 king size bed and bedroom furniture for 1 room.

Can anyone recommend anywhere to buy the above items that are stylish and good value for money?

Thanks

We went to Wardens in Newtownards and liked it a lot. We were looking for wooden furniture and it seemed reasonable compared with the shops in Belfast that we'd visited. It was a lovely shop - like an old fashioned department store.

how quickly you need it is important cause when we bought ir first house last year we ordered a bed and sofa a week before we moved in and after a month still hadnt received it sofa was even worse we waited 2 months for it and they told us that is normal so make sure whoever you choose you can deliver in time because we ended up in an inflatable mattress until bed arrived.

Patterson's Auctions at Dunmurry - advertised in Belfast Tele last night. I know several people who have bought from them in the past. All of your items on sale at very good prices.

Moving in mid to end of april so we still have enough time to shop around.

We have tried a lot of the chain stores like Dekko, Creations, Reid furniture, Land of Leather, Ideas, DFS and Harveys.

All of the stores were ok and had some very nice furniture and we considered buying a few things. I would like to shop around a bit more and see if I can get similar stuff cheaper.

I have heard that smaller furniture stores have as good as furniture at half the price of the big chain stores. Not sure where these furniture stores are but. Maybe it is a myth.

Buy antique or soon to be antique from an auction house, same price as cheap new furniture but will keep it's value.

Having just moved to Ballymoney, we have been looking for furniture and have to say we have used local shops because the quality has been far superior then say DFS, harveys etc and also delivery has been within the week for the main apart from made to order pieces which are taking up to a month. Prices have been comparable when considering we have been buying real wood rather then mdf and also we have always been given pretty good discounts

I dont know if this is to your taste or budget, but I very much like furniture from Pinewick in Ballynahinch. It isnt budget, dirt cheap, but it is very solid furniture and very good value. They have an absolutely superb selection with some stunning pieces. I bought a sleigh bed from them a few years ago, one of my better buys over the years!

There's a great charity shop on the Ormeau Road I can't quite remember which one (there's a few) and it usually has some great furniture in it.
