Many motorists have long benefited from the 'drive other cars' clause most insurers have included in their policies. This means that it is legal to drive a vehicle that does not belong to you, with the owner's permission, and that you will be insured. Generally you are able to drive another person's car if you are insured fully comprehensively but will be insured on that car third party fire and theft.

Also the police would have seized the car and will charge his ex around £200 recovery costs and £20-£30 a day it is stored in the compound.

Sorry to say this but once the magistrates see what the previous points were for as well then it will be an automatic ban. They are currently clamping down very hard on this with ANPR blitzes.Using a mobile and bald tyres previously will show them he has not learnt his lesson. If he was covered insurance wise then he would not be going court but obviously that is not the case.

I do believe hes telling the truth,I knew about the other points at the time,he was really angry when he got the 3 for the tyres as he was told by his employer to go out in another van and he got done. Hes with a new employer now but the most part of his job is driving, ive told him to speak to him.
Just gave him a phone there he didnt have his own insurance when he was caught his car was off the road at the time,he knows he was stupid but hindsight is a great thing!!
