Where can I download a free MP4 convertor which will allow my son to copy music dvds to his ipod? The ones he has looked at are only for trial periods.

He could use DVD Decrypter for Windows (or MacTheRipper for the Mac) to copy them onto his computer, and HandBrake to convert them for use on his iPod.0

Anyvideoconverter is totally free.
I prefer freevideoconverter though.0 -

You need to open the DVD you copied in HandBrake, choose one of the iPod presets, and then click start. It'll then encode the video into a format the iPod can play (which will take a while).
Then you can add the encoded video to iTunes and then the iPod.

Im copying disc straight from computer dvd compartment, it says it will take 5 and half hours to encode, does this sound about right for a mettallica dvd0

HandBrake can't encode copy protected DVDs on Windows, so if you're using that, you need to copy the DVD onto your computer using DVD Decrypter (the link is in my post above).
As for the length of time, it'll depend on the duration of the DVD and the speed of your computer. Five and a half hours is certainly possible.0
