Property: March house prices rise by 1 per cent

Interesting article from the Independant:

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/house-and-home/property-march-house-prices-rise-by-1-per-cent-1453087.html

"ON CUE with the arrival of spring, and the surge in interest that the season traditionally generates, the Nationwide building society reports a 1 per cent rise in house prices for March. This coincides with reports by estate agents around the country of increased activity and shows that, following a similar rise in January and a 1.4 per cent fall in February, the big slide has practically stopped."

Well, I predicted a slow down but not a rise. :)

Its interesting thats for sure, and indeed reflects anecdotals in the Buying and renting forum, and the mood.
  • agreed...it would not surpise me to see a monthly rise this year, possibly two. and again next year. i would not expect to see 100% monthly falls each year - though i concede it possible

Interesting. Hm... not what I would have predicted, but not entirely surprising given the increase in mortgage approvals and the oil price increases.

There is a repossessed house just outside the area I'd like to buy in. The mortgagee in possession is selling for £500 more than the advertised asking price....

I wonder how the independent got hold of the figures pre release?

Good news though, will give the bears sore heads ;)

It might be worth making an offer, then Pee. I get the feeling lending standards are going to be tightening again soon, because there has been talk of limiting 100% mortgages.
