Is it better to keep my heating on a low setting all day long, or to have it on timer for when I am in the house?
At the moment my heating is on (high settng) from 7pm to 11pm and thats it.
I wondered whether it would be more costs effective (and would keep my cats toasty!) to have it on low all day and turn it off before I go to bed.
I have dials on each radiator so I make sure the ones in rooms that I dont use are low or off all the time. I dont know what is for the best!
What with all these price rises I suppose its time I put on an extra jumper and turned it down a bit at least!

i think it depends on what type of house you live in if you live in a well insulated house, apparantly its cheaper to have it on all the time, as once it gets to temp, it just has to tick over.
If however like me you live in an old timber framed house, then i think its best to turn on and off as and when.Pawpurrs x0 -
my house is 3 bed semi about 1970 ish and i think is well insulated
when i used to live in a older house i just used to leave it on low and turn it up as and when (although i wasnt as stingy then!)0
