Moving house - supplier?
Options
Hi all,
I've just moved into a new property, and am told that the supplier for gas and elec is British Gas. Should i stick with them? I'll have to phone them today anyway, to let them know i've moved in, but presumably could then switch easily?
Help!
Thanks,
Gills x

i had the same thing last year when i moved and british gas were the supplyers of the new property.
you have to stay with british gas for a month before you can move.
british gas will try to do a credit check whilst they set up your account!
honestly! i was s o shocked - i refused to let them and they put me through to a manager who said well we cant supply you then - so i said well thats good because i didnt want you in the first place lol - long and short of it is that they did supply me for a month but didnt do a credit check.
just listen out for it in the small print they talk through as they are signing up your account!#113 12K in 2020 Challenge #113 £17,103/£12,000 £150000 -
Credit vetting is standard practise.
In it's most basic terms it is done if you have moved from a property that's not been with BG, (or you've never had any bills in your name). This is because we do not want to assume a customer who has a poor credit rating and may fall into debt.
You are perfectly within your rights to refuse a CV, however, you may be asked to pay a security deposit or even take a prepayment meter.
What's wrong with them doing a CV on you if you've nothing to hide? Banks and Credit card companies do it all the time.
You switch in exactly the same way as normal. It takes 28 days anyway. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0
