I'm not sure if it's the right thread, maybe should be uk travel??? pls move if needs be.

OH travels to Doncaster a lot..and at the moment trying to find the cheapest way.. on Megatrain they have Megabusplus from London to Doncaster, it says it part train part coach... around 3 hrs.. and for £1..
Sounds good but has anybody done it? OH won't be too impressed if i send him to a hell trip!
Any experience to share?
Thanks a lot

It's designed specifically for passengers travelling through to London, so it will be an easy connection from bus to train. East Mids Pkwy is a brand new station, so in all probability will be quite nice (other recently-opened stations are wonderful). Whether I'd recommend it for him depends entirely on him. If he's from the "I'm too snobby ever to set foot on a bus" brigade, I'd say it's a no. If he's more "MSE is great, and it's not too long and the coach doesn't stop too often" I'd say it's a yes. Considering the fare is so low, I don't think he can complain, and as I said, the journey won't be a horrible one.

That said, it is much longer than the direct Doncaster-KGX train, and if you can get the dirt-cheap advance fares from NX I'd probably stick with that anyway. Or combine the two (i.e. one way on each of them) to get the best balance and/or try it out?
