Unusual start up

Each time my laptop starts it does a some sort of scan saying that the volume is dirty. Can anyone shed any light on this? It only started this yesterday. When the scan is finished it goes to the normal log-in page.

If there are actual errors and the filesystem on that volume is corrupted every time you start the laptop, I'd suspect that the HDD is just about to fail.0 -

Looks like a hard drive failure is on its way... I would recommend you back up essentials.0

It's XP. I've just run the repair tool from the system menu, closed and re-opened and it started normally. Thanks peeps0
