someone accesses my yahoo account

Hi there,
I hope someone help me with my query.

I've been suspicious about someone entering my yahoo email account. I've noticed before that emails which I haven't read and should be bold are shown as read. To be absolutely sure I've been sending myself some emails in the last 3 months - an email every couple of weeks - and without opening them myself I've found out on 8 different occasions/ 8 different times I've checked that the emails were read.

Is there a way to find out who is entering my account?

I have a small suspicion it could be my ex girlfriend, but then you can't really accuse someone without being sure. The reason I think that is that she might have overseen me typing my password whilst we were still together.
You might say change your password, which I will, but I first want to find out what's going on.

In the meantime I have signed up for a new email address which I use now for personal emails. The one in question mainly gets jokes forwarded to it now and some emails from friends who haven't changed their contact list yet.

I really like to know who is reading my emails and with what purpose.

cheers in advance

I don't think there's really any way you can find out who is accessing a webmail account such as yahoo & hotmail other than yourself unless you go to the company directly and tell them of your suspicions. They could probably tell from which IP the account has been accessed from and when you last logged in, but you'd probably have to jump through various security hoops in order to prove the account is yours before they'll look at anything.

Best bet is to scan your PC/laptop in Safe Mode for any viruses, malware & keyloggers prior to changing your password, just to be sure there's nothing there that shouldn't be, and then change your pass.
Where there's a will, there's a way to get something cheaper from somewhere else!! :D
  • Make is something complicated with letters numbers and characters if possible and only save your password on your computer if no one else ever uses it.
  • Also next time you are suspicious, change your password immediately. If someone is trully accessing your mail, they could change it first and ddeny you access to it. Then the problems really will begin.
  • send an email from an acount to your own. in the subject put something like "HMCS - COURT ACTION AGAINST MRS SMITH / TG628059"

then write a big long email about how you are taking your ex GF to court for stealing money, fraud, ID theft bla bla. make it look offcial as you can. then send a few more just to be sure she reads them..... then laugh at her when the phone rings and she is asking about it..... oh and remember to ask her where she got that info from, in a panic she may slip up big time. plus you could have alot of fun sending emails to yourself....

here are a few i thought of to get her mind ticking.....

    "Shipment"
The shipment will be at your around 3am, john and the boys will pick it up after 4am. keep it safe.

    "Hi hunny"
