I am in a rented flat. The sofa is a fake leather sofa approx £200-250 from IKEA, i made the burn, it was an accident, it is about 3/4cm x 1/2 cm right on the arm.
So i have home insurance up to £5000 = £10.88 Premium per month. So i find the insurance a bit confusing. The £10.88, or £5000, seems to be for an overall cover for
Do you think that from this description of my insurance policy i will be able to claim for the sofa?
I have been paying the insurance for 20 months now without a claim and have never claimed from insurance before although i do have a bad credit history for CC's.
What are the consequences of claiming?
thanks

Does the sofa belong to yourself or your landlord?0

If the sofa is yours then it doesn't appear to be covered under accidental damage, unless you specifically have it as a named item for this purpose.
Accidental damage cover for general possessions (sofas etc) usually pushes the annual premium up, judging by your monthly cost you wouldn't have it.
So probably NO !0 -
To be honest, its probably not worth your while making a claim, the excess and increased premiums for the next five years with having a claim on your record would mean you will pay out more in the long run.0
