Hi macman.
My shower is a dedicated shower, not from the bath. And your question about how canI have a separate cold feed to the shower is my question!
There is a cold feed from the attic (according to my ears and feeling pipes) but this is only flowing when the shower is on.
How can I identiy thecold mains pipes into the bathroom?
Sorry, but I can't see where the mixer tap comes into this if you have a separate shower cubicle. Well looks like you've already ID'd the cold feed to the shower. Now trace back the cold feed from the rest of the bathroom (eg WC, bath and basin). Where does that go to?
Sounds to me like you have a rising main into the attic from your old system (assuming there was a cold water tank then), and your plumber has taken the cold feed to the shower directly from that in order to improve the pressure maybe. If so can the pressure on that spur be increased? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
latecomer - if I turn of the mains this would tell me if the shower is fed by hte tank I assume?0

macman - it might be my terminology. It is a thermostatic mixer on the wall above the bath, just below the shower on/off knob.
I will get back into the attic tomorrow to follow your much appreciated advice.
Many thanks0
