Hi my tenants have broken the knob on my potterton mini minder program timer. I dont really want to replace the whole timer since i will have to deduct it from the tenants deposit. does anyone know where i might get the part - it is at least 20 years old. Also i want to do an electricity safety check. my local electrician is quoting £150+vat. is this about right?

they have broken the knob. however if i could just replace this i would and wouldnt bother about deducting from the deposit. however, i cannot replace just the knob and i am forced to replace the whole timer0

If it was broken because of age, usuage and not on purpose and you are renting the place furnished I believe knocking it off his deposit is a bit much, you should just get the electrician to fix it or replace it yourself.0

Even if they had broken it through clear misuse it would be inequitable to deduct the full replacement costs from their tenancy deposit, when you have stated that the item is over 20 years old.they have broken the knob. however if i could just replace this i would and wouldnt bother about deducting from the deposit. however, i cannot replace just the knob and i am forced to replace the whole timer
Do you not have any form of cover for your heating system that would help with the cost of parts?0 -
