Health insurance policies

Hi all,
My apologies if many of these questions have been covered before.
My BUPA health insurance policy has just tipped the £50 per month point (it was £45 last year) - it actually seems like only yesterday that is was down at £30. I'm an extremely active and healthy 36 year old and I can't help feeling that at this age, that's a lot of money to be paying. I haven't needed the doctor in eons (granted, I don't know what's around the corner), but I think this has just broken through a pschological barrier (the £50 mark) for me and I'm thinking of cancelling. I took a major career change 6 months ago so am earning half of what I was.
I understand that inflatory measures and increasing health industry costs affect the premium, but at a time when we're in recession, 10%+ increase per year seems a little ridiculous....
What are peoples thoughts?
Also interested to hear if anyone has any research they can share on alternative providers of health care. I know the Pru offer something that gets one gym membership which would temper the blow of such a high premium.
Cheers in advance for any thoughts/tips.

You are right - Pru will offer you lots of rewards and benefits - the gym deals are just part of it...If you are fit and healthy they will offer you probably a similar premium this year (and let you switch) but also give you the chance to see the premiums come down next year. Speak to a broker as thats the way you can set it up.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
