Hi just looking for some advice, i have been working abroad for the last 8 years and have just returned to the uk. I have got a job starting in 2 weeks but don't have a bank account. As i don't have any uk address for the last 8 years, could i just use my parents address or just explain to the bank that i have not been living in the uk. Also would i be able to open a normal current account or would i start off with a basic bank account? which bank would be best?
Mnay Thanks

Start off with a basic bank account to be on the safe side. http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts.pdf
Use your parents address since you are living with them now (I assume). Bring photo ID like passport or drivers licence. For proof of address, be on the voters roll. Alternatively, have a drivers licence with your parents address on it.0
