MOT requirement - opening windows?

Options
A strange one but my MOT is due in June.

Recently my old banger's drivers window winding mechanism completely broke and couldn't be fixed. My work colleague has siliconed the window shut so it doesn't keep opening when I'm driving.

Would this be an MOT failure or is there no need for an opening window?

I'm not sure, but can't remember anyone ever checking windows when I've had MOTs in the past.

The front doors have to open from the inside I think that's as close as it gets...

providing you can adjust the wing mirror from the drivers seat, ie electric or stalk remote, and the door opens from the inside and out then you should'nt have a problem. The only statute for the window to open is if the mirror needs to be adjusted.

MOT is just mechanical and anything that can affect the drivers ability to drive - so minor mechanical things like a window not openning will not affect the MOT. I say this because the passenger side front window is electric and the mechanic who does my repairs said it wont work. He also does my MOT - and my car has passed for the last 4 years.

Yes I can move the mirror with the stalk on the inside, the door opens from both inside and out.

    Thanks for your help.

It's not a requirement to be able to adjust the mirror from the seat.
Both front doors need to open from the inside and out.
Bet parking barriers and toll booths are fun though.

No, it's not a safety related issue.
