hi can any one advice me for my son,#
a couple of mouths ago my son took a pair of large speakers he uses for gigs to be repaired, he had used them for over a year, then the speakers blew, so he asked the repair shop to repair them, then he gets this bill of 500.00 plus, he called them to say whats the problem why so expencive, and was told this was wrong that was wrong ,
and aslo thay said the parts were not the orginal parts.
my son then said look i wish you had told me before replacing all the other parts as i only asked for 1 thing to be repaired. and also as he brought them from a freind who had brought them new , and never ever been repaired the parts were all original. any way thay are telling him to pay up and also untill he does then 10.00 a day is added for storrage.
now ive tryed to talk to the shop and all i got was unless you pay to day im taking you to court and i will send the balifs round.well it shocked me andmy son we dont no were we stand. as he does the odd gig and cant with out these speakers he has no money but also feels he is being ripped off .as the cost is so high, so any one with advice it would be helpfull ,

It is not clear what work your son asked for and therefore, whether the price paid is fair or not. If he said 'repair them', then they have done exactly what he asked and they are entitled to request a fair price for their work.
He must ask for an invoice and find out if the parts and labour costs are reasonable. If they are, then he owes the money.
My advice would be to get a quotation in future.0 -
How much are the speakers worth? Over £500? Because if they're worth less than this, he could argue that the repair was uneconomical and shouldn't have been carried out - it's just common sense.
It's like a crashed car - if it costs more to fix than the car is worth, then it's written off.
If he specifically asked them to fix just one bit, then he should only pay for that part. If he said "fix it" and wasn't specific, then he should pay.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
