Do I need to do Favors?

I don't think I am bothering, its just unnecessary expense that most people wont even appreciate. When I mentioned it to my mum she didn't even know what they were.... I think they are quite 'typical' of the modern day wedding where it appears most focus is what extra's people can have to try and out-do others....0

I thought back on the weddings I'd been to... and decided favours were the last thing I was likely to remember (as a guest).
So we only did boxes for the kids (there were quite a lot of them though) to keep them occupied during the meal

I agree you dont need them if you dont want them however....Morrisons a shop called home bargains have a 4 pack of love hearts for 33p, so you could get a load of them and put them in little organza bags which are cheap on ebay, this is what I am doing xLoves Vegas shopping and beauty products!0

We aren't bothering with them. I would only do them if there was something really personal i could do. EG, a friend's gran died a couple of months before her wedding, she had a total sweet tooth and always kept the family supplied with goodies, so my friend and her h2b made fudge to her recipe and everyone got a square of that in a little box. Thought that was really nice.
Don't have anything like that myself - plus i'd want them to be home made - as that is "my thing" - something sewn, crocheted or knitted - and with 150 eating it isn't really what I want to spend my time doing!0 -
I found 100 "wedding day" rock sweets on ebay for £4.99, so I bought 200 and I am either going to put these on my buffet table and let people them when getting the buffet or get my DD to go round with them in a basket and offer them to the guests.

We had charity pin badges for our favours. The ladies had badges for a local childrens hospice which was my choice, the men had macmillan badges which was dh's choice. So yes we paid out for favours but all the money goes to worthwhile causes.0

Wow, loto tickets are a good idea but I would be as sick as a dog if someone else hit the jackpot with my stake!!

right i just had a look on ebay and for anyone who is debating whether or not to have favours you can make 70 favours for round about 9 quid.
There is a company on ebay who sell dragees or sugared almonds 200 for £2 + p&p and there are many sellers on there that sell 100 organza bags for a fiver! Just worth thinking about if you're umming and arrring.0 -

I am thinking about using potted plants, african violets, as venue decorations instead of flowers and if I do this I would ask everyone to take a plant home as a favour.
If I dont do that I wont bother with favours at all.
you could put stickers on the insides of the place cards and those people could be the ones to take the plants home, like winning a prize
