Do I need to do Favors?

Our wedding is in just over 2 weeks and I really don't want to do favors. Some people are saying that i shouldn't bother is I don't want ot and others are saying it will be expected.

What do you think?

There is no obligation for you to have favors - most get left behind anyway so why not use the money for something else?

I don't think it's expected - it's entirely up to you, hun. Lots of weddings I've been to haven't bothered with them.

I think they're nice to have if you have the money to buy them or the time to make them, but they're certainly not a neccessity.

A lot of people don't bother taking them/eating them anyway and I'm sure very few would notice if they weren't there - and it certainly wouldn't spoil anyone's day!

If it helps we're probably just going to put a couple of heart chocolates on everyones plate as part of the table decoration. That way it doesn't cost too much in money or time, they'll most likely get eaten and will look pretty!

I can't be doing with boxes and wrapping!

If you were to have favours what sort are thinking of? Only I have quite a few bonbonniere nets and little plastic bowls my sister gave to me, they were left over from her wedding, we just filled them with almonds and tied them with narrow pink and blue ribbon, traditional but they worked. You can have them if you like, there are lots and lots but I'm not using them and they are just sitting in the cupboard. I think, but don't quote me they may have been from John Lewis. Please Pm if you're interested and if not please let me know and someone else can have them. HTH

  • thats a kind offer... and if you have a theme you can use sweeties/little mini eggs or smarties that may be a bit cheaper than almonds... a friend of mine did little packets of loveheart sweets, but we printed her 'own label' and stuck them around the wrapper, you could even do polo-mints!! looked really good and was very cheap :T
  • I think we are going to do lottery tickets and mini packets of love heart sweets, although we are just having 50 guests. Not sure what we rae going to put them in yet though. My friend told me the other day that you just do favours for the women, is that true? Tiger x

Thanks everyone, but I have decided not to do favors.

Siren I have PM'd you, thanks.
Kte, might do what you are doing. Wedding is the Friday after Easter, no doubt mini eggs will be half price. LOL

  • You dont have to do favours, they are as someone else has said sometimes just left behind anyway.I dont think most people will notice to be honest.

I am thinking about using potted plants, african violets, as venue decorations instead of flowers and if I do this I would ask everyone to take a plant home as a favour.
If I dont do that I wont bother with favours at all.
