Can't download files or open pictures files

Hi, Can anyone please help. I have a lot of card making patterns on my computer that I have collected over a couple of years but recently when I have tried to open them I can't. Also sometimes when I try to download a file from the internet my computer opens Adobe Photoshop Album then a square screen comes up saying 'Items not Imported' and underneath under Reasons it says, The PDF file does not contain any photos. Thanks for any help you can offer.

What format are the files in?
What program are you trying to open them with?

As for downloading ~ you probably set a default to open PDF files with photoshop and ticked to REMEMBER the settings

  • In Vista, click the Orb(Start)icon, on the right list select "Default Programs" then in the next window select "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" Scroll down to .pdf and chack that Adobe Reader is the current default, if you need to change this then look for the "Change program...." button.

What are the card pattern file types?

Thanks for your replies. In answer to your questions, The files seem to be PDF files. When I right click on the file I want to open, it automatically tries to open in Adobe Photoshop Album. I don't know how to open in anything else.
My computer is not running Vista but Windows XP.
Another thing that has changed recently is that in the file where all my card making patterns/pictures are stored I used to see a thumbnail picture of the pattern but now all the PDF ones don't show the thumbnail picture but just show something like a sheet of paper with the corner turned down.
