Out of best before date food - Tesco?

[Out of interest, can anyone tell me how long they are allowed keep their chicken in the hot deli stand for? I've regularly been to Tesco at 7pm when they are still trying to sell whole chickens cooked and labelled at 10am. Personally I wouldn't touch anything that had been kept warm for 9 hours, but so many people don't even look at the labels. I have no idea what the regs are - does anyone know?[/quote]
I'm not 100% sure but I THINK its 2 or possibly 3 hours (I used to MS them and sometimes the chicken counter question related to times).ELITE 5:2

In fairness, I think there is a distinction between sell by date (case you refer to) and best before dates.
Yes, but it shouldn't be the customers telling the store when food is past its best - they should have an adequate number of trained staff. I know I don't have to take them off the shelves but I hate seeing customers being ripped off - many of them wouldn't even notice.0
