You could always get a virgin credit card, buy discounted comet vouchers with it at the members shop (13% discount) and then buy one at comet. This will cost a little effort and £390.

    Ok here goes:

Apply for a virgin credit card here:
    http://uk.virginmoney.com/credit-card-v1/

Once you receive it you are entitled to buy things in the memebrs shop here:
    http://uk.virginmoney.com/members-shop/rewards/getHomeCatalogues.do

There you can buy comet vouchers for a 13% discount. Choose the laptop you want to buy from the Comet website. The one i was referring to is this one:
    http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/572_287024.html

Go instore and buy it using your Comet vouchers.
Voila £450 laptop for £390. £60 saving for a few minutes of your time.

Plus you can use it for ther comet purchases. I bought my fridge freezer and saved another £60.

Bear in mind though, you'll be charged interest on your purchase of the vouchers from day one.

Hi sorry to re-initiate an old post but I have a few questions regarding buying Comet vouchers using Virgin Credit Card.

I'm after a laptop from Comet & was tempted at the 13% discount but wasn't aware that the interest gets charged from DAY ONE on any voucher purchases.

I'm not happy about this but was wondering if I credited the money into my credit card BEFORE purchasing the vouchers, would I avoid paying the interest?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks in advance. Ash

Not sure Ash...they could still charge interest and just deduct it from your credit.

Might be a better question for the credit card board. However, I believe that if your card is either 0 balance or in credit, they can't charge interest because you do not owe them anything. One way to check would be to ring and ask.

I've just ordered the vouchers over the phone (£400 of vouchers for £348 is a good deal, even with a bit of interest :))
