What Can I Do?
Someone Has Scammed Over £200 From Me.
Basically He Claimed He Received The Money But Someone Hacked Into His Paypal Account And Stole It. So Now He Is Refusing To Send Me The Item I Payed For.
Paypal Say If His Account Is Empty They Wont Be Able To Get Money Back What Can I Do?! By Now Im Sure He Would Have Distributed It Into Other Accounts

Did you fund your paypal payment from a credit card? IF you did then put a claim in with them straight away.

no i didnt any other suggestions?0

I guess you should read up about making a claim in the small claims court. Just remember that, even if the hacking story is true (which is doubtful), it is not your responsibility. He has admitted you paid for the item (and Paypal has the record), and he is obliged to supply it or refund you.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

OP can you let us know his ebay id in case we come across him ?
send us the item number you won.Karma is a wonderful thing.0 -
In the Daily Mail yesterday there was a big article about paypal. As usual there were a couple of bits of info that were wrong, I don't think even journalists or paypal themselves fully understand how it actually works from a laymans point of view! However, there was a rather interesting throw away line that mentioned that someone who had complained to the Daily Mail and had their problems highlighted had been fully refunded by paypal. That would rather suggest that it might be worth contacting the Daily Mail and copying paypal and the FSA into the complaint as there is an outside chance you might get your complaint looked at.
It's just a thought as in the article paypal state quite clearly that in cases like yours the matter needs to go through the usual legal claims procedure and small claims etc, which we know rarely works.

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your PayPal/eBay problems. If it's any help here is the PayPal phone number in the USA, use '18185' 001-402-935-2050 at 1/2p a minute. The UK number is a 0870 number.0

I regularly complain to the Daily Hate Mail. Doesn't seem to do any good though!
It will be a case of avoiding bad publicity. So any paper that would print your complaint will do, I guess.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
what is the item number and start a paypal dispute anyway or better still report it to your credit card company but do it now.0

Hey what a brilliant tip - assuming your phone line is provided by BT, as some other companies won't allow overrides.
But will PayPal talk to UK customers on their US number?Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
