Got my renewal through from Abbey Insurance Brokers, £750 for a honda accord, i'm 27 3 years no claims. Did the MSE tool and cheapest I could get it was £650. Tried direct line got a quote for £465, rang back Abbey they can come no where near that, rang a few other local brokers again they can come no where near it. Should I just be happy with the direct line quote and bite their hand off or is there any other places I should try? I dont get why Direct Line are soo much cheaper than anywhere else.

Because every company's underwriting manager has different experience, claims experience and a different risk appetite. Some won't touch certain areas with a barge pole, others will jump in. I know a chap who has just bought a new Porsche, with quotes ranging from something like £5000 to £750.
Small factors acting alone or together can make a big difference, such as the car's insurance group against your age, postcode etc. This allows insurers to manage the profile of their entire account.
DL in particular go for huge volumes and hope to make their money that way, others choose to be more picky.0
