We are on a low income and over the winter had to sit with covers over us to keep warm as we could not afford heating on these pre paid meters. We contacted southern who said ok we will send a letter so you can provide the proof needed to be placed on a lower tariff, nothing showed up, we contacted them a few more times with same result.
My Husband is disabled and when we were awaiting for the benefits to be assessed we were living off around £60.00 per week (ctc) to pay all bills and food for the family (we have a 4 year old son) we were having to put minimum £30.00 on the meters £15.00 of this was debt recovery.
now they will not respond to e-mails and we still get stonewalled when calling them, anyone else have this problem and how did you solve it?

spoke to them today and they say i have been put on tariff as of today without needing to send in proof of income, but refuse to backdate to september when we first contacted them about it. so told them will continue claim against them even if have to take them to small claims court. the reply was they will check with bosses and call me in morning after checking things over so fingers crossed.i sent you a private message with details.
