Just a quick update on these powerwashers. My faulty unit has been picked up today and was addressed to Karcher! So this confirms that the unit is indeed made by Karcher. Hope this helps anyone.

The way to tell is the connectors, as the Karcher design is patented it wont appear on other washers.

If Karcher accesories fir it will be a Karcher, other way to tell is they are all made in Germany

We already know about the connectors and the patents and if the accessories fit and if it's therefore made in germany - we always did ;)

Bit rude and condescending isn't it.......................;)

But, lets all be nice to each other eh

Just re-read the entire thread so now editing....

I bought the yellow original one a few months ago as it was reduced to clear for £60 and it's great, would have happily paid £90 for it. The hose fitting at the handgun and on the washer itself are identical to the karcher. The difference between the Karcher and Powercraft fittings is on the attachments at the handgun, The bayonet fitting is wider on the Karcher. Some people have had success filing down karcher fittings to fit the powercraft handgun - not something I'd want to do personally. You can buy a Karcher handgun and this will fit the hose supplied with the PowerCraft. I bought this http://www.amazon.co.uk/K%C3%A4rcher-Replacement-Hose-Handgun/dp/B00175N8TW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=diy&qid=1254946897&sr=1-1 and kept the hose as a spare. They are made by Karcher, Aldi themselves used to say this but don't anymore.
The wash brush is IMO rubbish though.

Regarding the new one (which I didn't notice till looking through the thread) I have no idea whether that one is a Karcher one. The handgun and case design makes me think not!
  • A relative phoned regarding a problem with last years model and asked the question. According to Karcher customer services, the latest ALDI pressure washer is NOT manufactured by Karcher.

Had a look at the new one in store - it's manufactured by a company called Einhell UK in Birkenhead, which is the UK arm of a German manufacturer.

Not many details on the box that weren't in the advert - but it does say it has a 3 year guarantee - so even if it's not that durable you should be ok. This seems to be the one on the main Einhell website einhell.com/englisch/englisch.aspx?search=pressure&x=0&y=0# (High pressure washer BT-HP 160)

As it's not specified anywhere, I can only assume it's a universal rather than an induction motor.
