A clever way to make or save a few pounds...

My boyfriend did another car boot sale this weekend at a different venue. Basically, he was trying to sell stuff that didn't sell the previous time - and because we've just moved house, inevitably there was a tiny bit more. Anyway, he made £50 profit this time. Not bad for stuff that people didn't want last time!!!! Even managed to sell some of my nick nacks from when I spent money on rubbish when I was a teenager....... ;D It's going to go towards a shed this time (apparently!).Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 declared0

I got fed up with doing boot sales, because of all the dealers trying to go through the boxes before I'd even got out of the car! >:(
So last year I decided to do a "Garage Sale", I made £100, no pitch money to pay, and I could have a cup of tea and go to the loo when I wanted!
I'm having another one soon, with a neighbour, try it yourself!
I think thats a good idea the nosey neighbours would come to poke around and feel they had to buy something wouldnt they
mmmm good idea might have a go at that

We usually try to do one car boot a year. Its amazing what rubbish you find just walking round the house - glasses you never use, odd mugs, games the kids don't play with any more, videos nobody watches.
My husband took a bag of stuff from our attic that I thought was only fit for the dump (dirty and dusty too!) and sold most of it. I was amazed! The rubbish that some people buy!!! Someone even wanted to buy his bottle of jif that he was using to clean some of the stuff! We usually make £80-£90 a time but last year made £140. This year was the worst and we only did £60. But its cash for your unwanted rubbish so its really worth doing!0 -
Well I'm saving up my junk - cleared a space in the loft to store it - told a couple of neighbours and rellies that I'm going to do one and I have been given loads of old toot to get rid of!! Well actually some of it was real good stuff!! They are pleased to get shot of it - I'm building up a stock over a couple of weeks and the I'm going to brave it!! Got a real mish mash of stuff so hopefully something for everyone - not too bothered what I get for it all but anything unusual I look to see if there is something similar on eBay so i don't seel myself short!0

i did one this morning and was a bit disappointed to be honest
only made £28 profit after paying fee. it was a very quiet one, but i went as it was the one my friend wanted to go to and didn't want to be totally on my own. oh well - £28 for a pile of stuff i would've thrown away isn;t bad!! oxfam have done well out of me too and i'm taking the books to sell at the 2nd hand bookshop which wil prob give me a better price anyway!

Get together with as many neighbours as you can and have a street/village/estate multi garage sale.
Advertise in the local press, at school, on the radio and wherever you can and wait for the punters and dealers to swarm.
That way, you only have to cart your stuff into the garden/garage or drive and not load up the car at some unearthly hour and you save the pitch money too.0 -
Did my first car boot the other week and cleared £115. I wasn't jumped on and most people were polite. Mrs man bout the house had a bit of trouble letting things go for less than they were worth (we sold a colour portable telly for £1) But no matter how expensive a thing is if you don't want it, use it or like it it's worthless.
£115 for stuff cluttering up your home isn't bad even with a 6:00am start.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
