Hi everyone, I've just spent the past couple of hours reading through the posts and drinking tea. Unfortunatly I didn't make notes as I was going along and I've forgotten everything I was going to say. So hugs and congratulations as appropriate! Its been great reading about the house moves etc, I hope it all goes well.

I haven't been around much lately, I've been on teaching placement which is killer and a I split up with my bf a couple of weeks ago. With the train tickets and little things I need to buy for school etc I haven't been the most frugal girl recently.

I totally forgot how expensive being single was - I'm starting to date again and of course I have to step up my grooming routine and buy new underwear.....;) which is costing me a fortune.

Tonight I plan to get out my sewing kit and repair the pile of cheap bras which have poking out underwires which will save me a few pounds. I'm also going to raid the kitchen for HM stuff so I can give myself some treatments. Does anyone wax their own legs?

    How are you all?

  • Hi Everyone!
Still resisting the chocolate. Mr SFT is enjoying the fudge.
Popped into Boots and topped up our phones (£10 each) using double points coupon and got 30 points for antibacterial handwash (only 90p) so my points total is up to 458!
Our walk was slightly shorter :3 and a quarter miles. We hardly saw anyone else and saw another great range of wildflowers. The Green Alkanets, Cuckooflowers and Yellow Archangel were my favourites today. Mr SFT is getting very excited about the Bluebells he spotted in a wood. Can't wait to see them in full flower. He thinks it only be another couple of weeks. Will start making a list of how far we've walked. Its got to be doing us some good!
    Have a great evening.
Sorry Chika, I shave my legs, too scared to wax!

I do, but I don't use wax. About 9 years ago I got a simple epilator (about £30, nowadays £ 20-40) which still works fine, which I think is better value for money and does the job better, too.

Thanks SFT - I'm thinking that shaving is the way to go too - I'll probably stick myself together if I try and do it myself!

Thanks! I was debating one of these, I have some Amazon vouchers that were meant for uni books but an epilator might be the way forward. Does it hurt? And has it lasted you the whole nine years? If so thats a bargain compared to the cost of waxing or razors and shaving gel.

Yes, it's still working after 9 years. You sort of get used to the pain (afternoons are the best as women seem to have the highest pain threshold then, best to test it, you can also check the internet for pain minimising tips) and the benefit is you don't get stubble the day after. Also hair has only about seven lifes (which you notice if you plug eyebrows -they stop growing back at some point) which means your leg hair will vanish some time (I'm speaking years though). Mine definitely thinned out.

  • Hi everyone! Have just been catching up with the thread. Nice to hear from you all. I would also like to hear how Janey's doing. I hope you have a nice meal out SF, and it's lovely to hear that you're so happy! I think I'm still in the phase where I can't stop smiling and it's three years and counting for me, lol.

I'm back at uni now and supposed to be revising hard but I'm finding it hard to scrape any motivation together and have ended up wasting a lot of time today. My lovely mum insisted on taking me to the supermarket and buying me heaps of healthy food as she's concerned that I'll be working too hard and won't look after myself, so that was really nice of her :) Now I just need to follow through on it and actually do the work!

chika, I've never had my legs done at a salon - that sounds very luxurious to me! I did wax my legs for ages using cold wax strips which worked fine (though I found that the Boots own brand didn't work so well as it wasn't sticky enough and I had to buy the branded ones - Veet or Nair or something), but recently I've started using hair removal cream instead which I find to be very quick and efficient and it lasts ages. (I got sooo bored putting all the wax strips on my legs but the cream is just on, wait a few minutes, off - so easy.) I use the Boots expert cream. I think it's about £6 or so a tube but it's often on offer so I stock up then; it takes maybe 1/4 or so of a tube to do my legs each time so it lasts a while. I do have quite fine blond hairs though which makes it easier for me. Hope that's of some use.

wax/cream/shave for legs? simple answer from me is 'no' to all three ;)

seriously, I creamed/foamed a couple of times in my late teens (so about 25 years ago) - and decided it was too much faff and expense for the little benefit gained. DD was shocked when it came up in conversation between us a month or so ago, and insisted on inspecting mine  guess I'm lucky in that I have fine blonde leg hairs, as they're really not noticeable unless you really go looking for them :rolleyes2

chika - sorry to hear of your split, but glad you seem to be moving on. New knickers eh?! ;) And as for waxing...I still have nightmares of when my Mum used to wake me on a Sunday morning, slap hot goo on my legs and rip the hell out of them

I rang the court today to see when they wanted me in for my next installment of jury service and was told I was no longer needed and that my time had finished. I only did one trial which lasted 3 days and 5 days off for Easter. So it looks like I'm back to work tomorrow . Best show willing as they'll remember that if and when they start laying people off! And I'm sure I've got a mountain of work to get through.

Had a lovely cheap dinner of steak, chips and peas. It was Mr S's basic steak and 3 huge pieces cost just over £3.00, basic oven chips and not-basic peas.

My skin is so sensitive that I can't use cream at all, and even wax sometimes causes a reaction. I find it takes only a few seconds to shave my legs in the shower and I'm quite happy with that. Epilators sound good, though.

Ah, the expense of the mating game... the last time I went in for it, I ended up overhauling not only my body but the entire house!

Has anyone got an answer to my stupid questions from earlier on?
I'm relying on you guys. :D
