Had some sad news today - a family friend has passed away. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer about 2 months ago, and then last week he went back into hospital and they said it had spread to his liver and brain. a week later, he's dead :( i'm really upset, and am trying to not go and binge/purge, which would ruin a nsd and make me feel even worse.

today should be my second nsd of the month, which is good.

sorry for not replying to everyone, hope you're all alright.

    sf xx

    ((((Hugs)))) SF :(

Is there anything you can do to take your mind off things (cross stitch worked for me in the past - hands busy and you have to concentrate a bit)? Or is there anyone you can go and spend the evening with to try to avoid being on your own and the risk of binging/purging? PM me if you want to talk at all.

    ((((hugs)))) again xx

Welcome back, Bails! Sounds like a fantastic time was had by all! We managed to organise some good weather for your return :D

SF, sorry to hear about the family friend.

Mama67 - 25kg of potatoes per month plus pasta & rice? Wow! That's a lotta tatties. Maybe you could start the 100 things to do with potatoes list, as you must be very experienced by now - mine are usually boiled/mashed and served alongside or over as pie topping, but I did make batches of potato croquettes, veggie cutlets and fish cakes to make sure I made last year's crop last as long as I could. Baked potatoes are also favourites during summer with homegrown salad. I am ashamed to admit that I [STRIKE]spent[/STRIKE] wasted far too much grocery money buying oven chips, wedges and roast potatoes, though.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

    Take care SF :kisses3:

    How's things going with bf??

Although it is sweltering here still I am in the middle of cooking a huge batch of carrot and swede and blanching 3 small caulis for the freezer
Went to Mr A's and picked up 10 packs diced carrot and swede for 5p each, 6 caulis for 10p each, and 10 packs of mature cheddar for 20p each.(some for frugal neighbour if wanted) I had managed to clear a little space in the chest freezer by using up some batch cooked meals but looks like it will be filling up again:rolleyes::rolleyes:

OH's bargain of the day was a small camping stove in a case which he picked up for £7.99 and 4 gas cannisters for £3.99 - these are for the emergency kit he is putting together in anticipation of winter power cuts in new cottage. He already has wind up torches, candles, matches, first aid kit etc:rolleyes:

SF, sorry to hear about the family friend.

Bails, my wedding date is 13th March 2010 so a little bit of time left to plan things. I have one bridesmaid sorted out now, so that's a good start...

Can tell you are back in the land of civilisation then:rotfl: .Love Mr SM's emergency kit.
I've had a great day - finally got my dutch bike:j Well I went for hybrid in the end - half the price of a dutch original (but you loose the elegant look) but still have the perfect ratio to saddle/handlebars so I can sit bolt upright so my joints are happy. Haven't been out on it yet as I need to get it checked over but delighted to have got one at last (another biggy for the 101 list for those doing it).

SF - you keeping looking after yourself - and don't hesitate to take up those PM offers - you'll get great support.

Been rehoming lots of stuff on freecycle and met some nice people: my old 1980's habitat anglepoise went to lady due to have a home birth next week and the midwife said she needed one of those. Can't get rid of a portable tv though but most else gone. Feels very cathartic and good to know the items are really appreciated.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
