Chika, welcome back but I couldn't resist this - found it when you said you needed a slap for spending money you don't have! :rotfl:Hope this works...

    Morning everyone

Chika, you and me both. I've been gone for about two months I think. But now I'm back. We can do this!

Ok well today I'm going to get my passport renewal sent off, so that's £72 spent today. Otherwise, no other spending today.
I've got a very quiet few days ahead, lots of time to myself to sort out my finances and do meal plans etc etc. It also means that I won't be spending very much.

    Have a good day everyone.

I went awol from MSE for ~ 3 months last year. I hate to think what I spent as I wasn't very frugal at all. I think I came back when I finally tried to work what I had spent and what I had spent on and couldn't account for 100s of pounds I could have saved towards doing up my bathroom and flat. I didn't have anything to show for it either. (My reason for doing this challenge is to save to do much needed work on my flat that has been delayed through lack of funds for 7.5yrs.)

((((hugs)))) to anyone who needs them.

Wow are passports £72 now! Thats extortionate. Are you going off anywhere nice?

Frugalness is coming along nicely today - I've attempted to clean up my house (big job) and done a couple of washes. I couldn't be bothered to make lunch so I've had ferrero rocher chocolates (terrible I know) but they were free, presents from the children in my old class!

I got a nice suprise in the post today - I had an accident ages ago when a silly woman pulled out on me. She argued and argued that it was my fault and she had a witness (who I suspect was her friend) to say it was my fault too but 9 months later I have a nice letter from my car insurance telling me that she is at fault and including a cheque for the excess I paid to fix the car :DI've already spent it on an iphone though

Oh chika I read that, and I am sooooooooo jealous, I want one too - I am resisting at the moment, my billy can is working hard.

But, I am being bad for tea, we are going to Hernebay tonight, so tea will be a bag of chips at the seaside. But in my defense, my MIL has given us the money so it wont be out of my budget, and it does get the littleun out which he absolutely loves. I will take our drinks and rolls etc with us, so we only pay out for the chips, plus littleun gets an icecream, so quite cheap really. We will have the chook over the weekend.

Hope everyone has a brilliant weekent, nice weather for once!

Haha Lilo, Your day out sounds lovely. Chips at the seaside is something you must do so don't feel guilty in the slightest. Have a fabulous evening!

I've wanted one for ages but resisted as it is a real luxury but by chance I got a cold call just as I opened that letter from the insurance people so I just thought why not! I've got a good deal 1200 minutes (which I will try my hardest to use!) and lots of texts. I also got the 16gb phone. My ipod is on the way out and my phone has started to play up too so I've killed two birds with one stone!

Another amazing thing has happened. I had an interview to teach summer school in London on Wednesday and they have just called me to offer me the job :D I'm sooooo happy. Its good money, only part time hours and its good experience for when I have to apply for teaching jobs next year. Just a small issue of where to stay but I guess i have a great sleeping bag!

    Ohhhhhh enjoy yourself SF! :D

PS If you are planning to go to the Louvre at all buy your tickets in advance. It saves hours of queueing. You can buy them through FNAC stores... see here! I think there is a small fee to do it this way but it saved us about 1.5 hours of standing in line when we went so well worth it! We had to queue for ~ 5 mins at a different entrance. Far better! :D

Ooooh I'm so jealous! It seems ages since I was in Paris in March. We got our tickets in advance for the Louvre (means you don't get to go down the spiral staircase in the pyramid though) and also the Eiffel tower.

Well DS is 21 today - I'm sure that can't be right, I don't feel old enough to have a child that old,:rotfl:
but I'll happily join in the celebrations ;)

Just saw on my way home that our local pub has started doing 'money squeezing' lunches for £1.99, wonder what they serve - I can almost do my packed lunches for the week on that.
