HELP phone/broadband package? Connection/New line fees?

Hello

I need some basic advice. I’m moving to my new home in less than 2 weeks. There is a dead phone line that was with BT.

I’ll need a landline phone and broadband. I have read the main site articles and some of the posts on this forum. I did the samknows postcode check. It shows there is no cable available in the area.

It looks like Talktalk do a good offer (ending today) at £227.94 for 18 months plus £29.99 connection fee. Is that a good deal? Do I need to pay for a new line? They charge £49.99 compared to BT’s £129.99. I’m a bit confused….The physical line to the house is there, so do I need to pay for this? Also, are there any better deals? Should I wait or do the deal today?

Thanks a lot.;)

Martin.

tiscali do a good deal, £14.99 a month for unlimited evening and weekend landline calls, unlimited broadband and line rental.
if its just a dead line they charge 30 quid to set it up, if you need a completely new line they charge 99 quid to set it up

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

we all know that doesnt mean anything. if tiscali are due to go under they will be bought up by another company, and all customers transfered on existing terms, its whats happened to countless other ISPs in the past
