Funding my Barclays monthly saver

I've currently got a Barclays monthly savings account, that is funded via a standing order from my First Direct current account.
However, they have not implemented faster payments for standing orders, and at present it takes 3 working days to simply shift funds from that into the monthly saver, and as my SO date is on the 5th, it doesn't hit the account until around the 9th.
I know FD and Barclays both fully support faster payments, so I was wondering if it was possible if I could cancel the standing order, and simply just shift the funds in manually via internet banking on the first of every month, so I don't lose interest.
The leaflet they gave me says 'via standing order' but will they actually be able to detect that it's not a standing order, if you get me? Or is any automated credit an automated credit?
Thanks
