Car Hire - Any pointers?
Hello!
Can anyone help me? I have to hire a car (MPV type of thing, my in-laws are visiting from abroad!) from April 7 to April 16.
Pick up would be from Gatwick but if it is cheaper to collect and drop from somewhere else I wouldn't mind.
I have tried Travelsupermarket, which came up with a £260 quote from CarHire3000. Is there anyway I can get this cheaper?
Any codes I can use?
I have never hired a car so I'm at a loss as to where to find the cheapest deal etc...
Any help is much appreciated!

I used to work in car & van hire, you will pay an arm & a leg for one-way rentals, £260 for 9 days seems about right.
The only things I would say you need to check are:
1. How much deposit they require?
2. What's the excess on their insurance & do they offer a collision damage waiver?
3. Does the rental include unlimited mileage?
4. Who is insured to drive the vehicle (you'd be amazed how many people used to let their partners/siblings/friends/dog etc "have a go. I thought it'd be ok" DUH!!!).
5. What ID they require. Make sure you find out EXACTLY what they need, otherwise you'll be going back home to collect it. If you've got a new style photo card licence - take the paper bit as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope this helps.

Out of all the things that zacspeed mentioned, make sure you get clarity with regards to excesses and collision damage waivers. If anythign happens, you dont want to be lumbered with paying a £500 excess. I knwo some places offer 'Super Collision Damage Waivers' at a small cost which reduces your excess to zero.If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

I think that's a pretty good quote if all-inclusive. I usually use National Car Rental and they quoted £477.57 for a Galaxy (Gatwick-Gatwick).Can I help?0
