Problems with accessing 18185 etc

Has anyone encountered any problems accessing 18185 etc? I am registered with both 18185 and 1899, but whenever I try and make a call, I am told that "there is not a fault, to regain access to indirect call providers, please cease access with the light user scheme or incontact plus".
I have checked with BT three times, and they have confirmed that I am not signed up for anything, and an engineer has checked the line for faults. I have also emailed 18185 and 1899, but they can't find anything wrong either.
Has anyone else had this problem, or got an idea how to resolve this? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Someone else reported the same problem before and it was found that the cause was departments within BT not communicating with each other. That meant that the left hand department had your number flagged as being on the Light User Scheme but the right hand department did not.
And the left hand department is the one which controls access to short code providers.
As you're being blanked by BT, it's time to escalate.
BT's Chief Executive said on BBC Breakfast last month that he was happy to (and regularly did) receive e-mails directly from customers.
If so, his e-mail address will be the obvious ben.verwaayen@bt.com
Worth a try?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
That is a great idea; thank you. BT have been helpful, but my general feeling is they don't really know what is going on, so let's hope the top bod does!0
