so what are the things that you can do with xbox 360. I was definitely not impressed when I visited GAME yesterday , the XBOX360 hung up in the middle of the game. Is it really cutting edge is the question, as it seems the product actually needs some decent finishing by the edges. The game being played was also rather kiddish car racing sort of game. any ideas.
    Inside I am THINKING.

From experience with my 360 I think it's great. It's not revolutionary, more evolutionary. Basically the next step, or generation. I think a lot of people were expecting something way ahead of its time, but in technology that never happens. Just look at the PS3, by the time standards are finalised and it is realised, it'll just be a next gen console, no longer this amazing machine it's built up to be.

I've not had any lockups, although I have read about them. The product is well packaged, and nicely put together. They've also listened to quite a few things the mod community were saying about the Xbox. Examples are a power button on the controller, and being able to jump back to the dashboard from within the game. As far as graphics are concerned, I've run it on my 32" LCD in 720p and it really is visually stunning.

Also, Xbox Live is brilliant. Easy to use, no lag. Probably one of the best parts of the whole package.

It does however, at current, have a rather short selection of decent games. I'd expect by June a flourish of games to have come out. It is also quite restrictive as a Media Center. You can only really do anything with it if you have XP Media Center Edition 2005, which most people don't. Once the mod scene work out how to get into it, I'm sure a number of homebrew media center apps will come out, being much more flexible.

If you really do want one, wait until v1.1 is out, as any release bugs should get fixed (lockups etc...), it'll be a more reasonable price, and have a better selection of games that take advantage of it's capabilities. I'd say July/August would be ok, the mod scene should have some results by then too.

For Xbox Live you'll need an adsl connection.
There used to be problems with accessing XBox Live with a modded XBox, if you did not get the 'right' Mod.
I don't know about the current incarnations of mods, but worth keeping in mind when looking about.

Yeah true. I've been locked out myself back in the early days. There are tutorials on how to unlock yourself. With any modern mod it shouldn't be a problem. Worth noting though as Mr J mentioned.

I'm not a gamer but I recently saw my grandkids playing a football game on an XBox 360 on a large plasma monitor. I was totally impressed with the graphics quality and the way that the players could be manipulated.
I think you would regret buying a lesser model!
