Hi, new to the forum and wanted some advise
Ok so me and my boyfriend been together for 16 months and have finally decided we wanna move in together so we have found a flat and just have to ring the estate agents
Im a total worrier. The flat has to be in my name as my fella is a student (not worried about that) but im worried about the credit checks. I have a bank loan that Ive never defaulted on and only takes a tiny chunk of my wage. I have a credit card that ive gone over like twice but paid straight away. I have a £600 overdraft that ive never gone over. Just wondered would by rating be bad??? I have a mobile phone also that ive always paid on time

i don't know how different estate agents are but me and my other half started renting together last june and as i was just finishing uni had very little income but we were still both named on the documents so being a student shouldn't stop your other half. it was just that they used my boyfriend's salary to 'check' that we were suitable for the place. they didn't look into anything else with us either, literally just his salary and asked for a reference from his employer as we were both living with parents before.
i would say to make sure you do get both your names on the documents though, to be safe.0 -
Thanks
Yeah I always have about £900 left in my salary each month so I know I can afford it and my fella is obviously going to pay half I just worry with the credit checks because if I dont pass them we will be really disappointed. My mum said she will be a guarenttor is needed0 -
OK Yeah does your mum realise that if things went pear shaped, and it does happen, she's gunna have to pay the £900 per month if you or your fella can't pay it?...............................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

Your fella will have to have his name on the tenancy agreement and go through checks. It might be that he will need a guarantor as well, so worth finding out who would do this before approaching an agent.

Rob -the rent is only £375 and yes my mum is aware of this my fella does have a job he isnt like other students so he will be able to pay the rent
He already rents and has a guarentor set up with another letting agency0
