Seat Leon Wiper Mod

I'm thing of changing the rear wiper unit on my Seat Leon to a Skoda Fabia one. As this is a modification of sorts would it be something I have to inform my insurance company of?

Thanks in advance

Why do you want to change it?

The standard factory wiper has a known issue with juddering & leaving a smeared window. After reading the Seat forums the solution is to replace it with a Skoda Fabia or VW Touran rear wiper arm & blade.

If it makes the car go faster then yes you'll have to declare it;)

I suspect it won't make it any more desirable to tea leaves or alter the value of the car (except for devaluing it cos it's part Skoda:eek: ) so I don't think you will need to tell your insurance.

Seat, VW, Skoda & Audi are all part of the VAG group, the Leon shares many of the same parts as a Golf & Audi A3 without the price tag. When I bought it I got an AA report and the engineer was very impressed by the number of VW/Audi parts it had.:j It seems the same is true of the Skoda Octavia.:o

A trip to the Skoda dealership in the morning beckons!!

Technically yes it is a mod and you need to report it to your Insurers.

Common sense says that you don't need to. It's not a performance enhancing part and only a retard at the Insurers would repudiate a claim on this basis.
