How to get the best discount from CD-WOW!

Apparently because I used a discount affiliate link and the e-voucher in one transaction, my order has now been declined and monies refunded. Declined a week after the email confirmation was received and also, like I've said, after monies had been taken from my account.

Could someone just let me know where I stand on this please ? I didn't think they could do that after payment had been taken ?

They say that they can refund your money even after the order is confirmed and payment has been received if you are using some kind of promotional discount which goes against their rules.

So you dont really have a leg to stand on.

Has anyone been (legitimately) using the Barclays Bank smartsave 20% discount? It seems to have stopped working for me.

Apparently they've pulled the Smartsave Promotion. Pitty as I got a smartsave card for CD WOW only. They say that they do not see any time in the foreseeable future when it will be reinstated. Does anyone else have any idea about this?

All my orders have been cancelled, I will definitely be shopping else where since they just aren't that competitive without links and vouchers.

The reason why the links are being stopped is because people are abusing them. They are not being used for their original intended use.

CD-WOW will see very sharp falls in revenue soon as their unique selling proposition was the discounts available. Without them, they're an average-priced, poorly stocked, limited choice, foreign-based e-retailer which can often take over a week to deliver a CD.

The correct strategy for CD-WOW to use would be to continue providing discount links, but advertise them to the masses. Taking a mass-market approach will allow them to rapidly increase sales.

With the rapidly expanding sales, they can take advantage of marketing economies of scale and thus expand their stock levels (clearly their buffer stock level is too low right now) and so reduce their costs, so remaining in profitability while maintaining competitively low prices.

Basically, they're scoring an own goal removing various discounts - making tiny profits on CDs etc. is MUCH better than making no profit and being stuck with stock they can't sell.

Actually I find CD-WOW to be very cheap for some things. They can be very cheap compared to other websites. You just have to shop around before buying.

delivery wise CD-WOW have always been really quick at delivering anything I buy. It always arrives within 2/3 days!

Does that 2/3 days delivery include dispatch? Have you ever ordered something more rare from them?
