I have loaded the Student and Teacher edition 2003 onto my daughters laptop but when she has tried to use Word it is asking for the product key. When i type this in it says it is incorrect. Any ideas why this is happening?

Has the copy been used on another pc before?0

Yes on my home PC. I didn't think this would matter?0

It's presumably a single user licence...why did you think you could install it on multiple PC's?No free lunch, and no free laptop

It seems to be a three-user licence, although that might only have been in the US?
The obvious question is whether you're really, really, sure the key was typed in correctly?0 -

I have a student copy of MS Office 2007 and it allows the user to install the program on one PC an additional copy on one laptop for their own use.
From the EULA:
2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. Before you use the software under a license, you must assign that license to one device. That device is the “licensed device.” A hardware partition or blade is considered to be a separate device.
a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software on the licensed device.
b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device.0 -
The Student and Teacher versions of office are licensed for 3 machines so that would not be our problem.
It could be that the version of Word installed is not the Student and Teacher version. Most new laptops come with a trial of Office 2007 which would not accept the license that you are trying to use.
Try uninstalling all office programs you have installed and then re-install from the disc that you have.
that will hopefully do the trick0 -
I just presumed I could use the programme for home use so on the PC and my daughters laptop.
Her laptop does have a trial thing on for Windows Office 2007. Maybe that is causing the problems. I'll try and take it off and put 2003 back on.
Thanks everyone.0 -
